Advising for JMHP Students

Academic advising is important so that students can plan their curriculum and get the most out of their experience. The requirements for completion of the John H. Martinson Honors Program depend on when students are admitted: before fall 2026 or fall 2026 and after. More information about the the two curricula is available on the old curriculum and new curriculum sections of the website.

Academic advisors in your major are best equipped to help you integrate JMHP courses into your program of study. Progress in the JMHP can be monitored in DegreeWorks. For any modifications required to your JMHP degree audit, reach out to Faculty Director Dr. Amy D'Unger. Use this online form to request authorization of PURA research course credit OR if you are a transfer student who conducted research at your previous institution. If you have study abroad credit that you'd like considered for JMHP inclusion, you can follow the directions on the website. Once approved, your degree audit will be updated.

Students who have advising questions related to the JMHP can schedule an appointment in Navigate360, email Dr. D'Unger, call Dr. D'Unger (404.385.7533) or message her on Teams, or drop by room 007 in the JMHP Office Suite, Eighth Street West Apartments.

Schedule an Advising Appointment

GRADUATION CHECKLIST (ADMITTED BEFORE FALL 2026)

Make sure the JMHP module appears in your Degreeworks degree audit. It should look something like this example below and will be near the bottom of your audit, below your degree requirements and above any declared minor(s). If it does not appear, please email the JMHP immediately.

Complete your online application for graduation (OAG) by the required deadline. If you are a summer graduate who plans to walk early in the spring graduation ceremony, please alert the JMHP so that we can do your audit early and prepare any graduation regalia.
If you have conducted undergraduate research in the PURA program OR are a transfer student who conducted research at your previous institution, please complete this form to have your research applied towards JMHP completion. Students who have conducted independent undergraduate research with a faculty mentor while at Georgia Tech (usually with the course number 2699 or 4699) do NOT need to use this form. Credit will be applied automatically.
If you have a study abroad class that may be eligible to apply to JMHP requirements, please submit it for approval. Instructions are on the Global Engagement Pathway page.
After the OAG and class registration deadlines has passed for your graduating semester (usually late August for fall, mid-January for spring, and late May for summer–refer to the registrar's calendar), the JMHP will conduct an audit.
Your transcript will be reviewed to make sure that no classes are missing in the JMHP portion of the audit.
Students will be notified whether they have achieved the designation of Participation in the John H. Martinson Honors Program, Completion of the John H. Martinson Honors Program (with or without distinction in a pathway), or neither of those. In addition, a note of this confirmation will be visible in Degreeworks, at the bottom of the audit.
The JMHP is NOT a degree requirement. Failure to complete the requirements will not delay your graduation and any JMHP deficiencies in your degree audit will not impact graduation. If you do not complete the JMHP, it will be removed from your degree audit at the END OF YOUR GRADUATING TERM (not before that). If you do complete the JMHP, it will remain and a notation will be added to your transcript.
Students who have achieved Participation or Completion will be invited to pick up their commemorative items several weeks before graduation. You can see a photo of the items on the JMHP website.
