The Community of HP Alums

The Georgia Tech Honors Program was founded in fall 2006 with a cohort of 95 students.  There are now over 1,900 alums of the HP living around the world.  Here are just a few that we're proud to say were members of the Honors Program!

Kantwon Rogers

Kantwon Rogers

You may know Kantwon Rogers as an instructor for CS 1371, or as a Peer Leader in Smith ... but Kantwon, a 2015 HP alum, is also currently a 2nd year Computer Science PhD student! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣

From Huntsville Alabama, Kantwon received his BS Computer Engineering in 2015, his MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2016 and his MS in Human-Computer Interaction in 2018. Now, he is pursuing his PhD in Computer Science. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣

Megan Thoreson

Megan Thoreson

Megan, from Ellicott City MD, graduated in May 2019 with a degree in Mathematics. Currently, she works at MITRE Corporation as a Systems Engineer!⁣

“I apply my background in math to systems engineering research projects (mostly for the Department of Defense). I’ve learned a ton about aircrafts and their systems!”⁣

Sharon White

Sharon White

Sharon White, 2020 HP Alumna and a Materials Science and Engineering Major, joined the MILL (Materials Innovation and Learning Laboratory) to become more involved with MSE and gain more technical experience pertaining to her major. 

Through various leadership positions and managing public workshops, she discovered a love of teaching and found what became her favorite activity here at Tech.

Sarah Sorme

Sarah Sorme is a 2023 graduate of the Honors Program.  As a student, she served on co-director of the Honors Leadership Council in the role of Executive Director of Strategic Planning and was instrumental in guiding the HP through the COVID-19 pandemic.  

Outside of the HP and OUE, Sarah conducted extensive research in neuroscience and served as both a teaching assistant and a research assistant.  She completed an undergraduate research thesis on brain network activity. 

Alex Berry

Alex Berry

Alex Berry graduated in Spring 2017 with a degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering, as well as with a minor in Technology & Management, and Chinese. Whether you saw Alex being a GT ISYE Ambassador, involved in SGA, or as an Honors Program mentor, he was definitely a familiar face around our campus!⁣ ⁣

Currently, Alex is a Technical Program Manager at Intel, a position where he applies project management and process improvement to facilitate and teach classes on Diversity & Inclusion and Supply Chain in the US and China.⁣ ⁣

Jo Tomkiewicz

Jo Tomkiewicz

Jo is a 2020 Mechanical Engineering graduate and Honors Program alumna who completed the International Plan during her time as an undergrad. 

The International Plan is a program that involves taking globally-oriented coursework, developing language proficiency, and completing a capstone project, along with a 6 month study abroad requirement.

Meet Ndeyanta, a 2020 HP and ISyE alumna! During her time at Tech, she was an active member of the GT Society of Black Engineers, holding numerous roles within the organization since her freshman year and serving as the president her senior year! 

The National Society of Black Engineers’ (NSBE) mission is to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.
